PROVENANCE is a collection inventory and valuation platform for rare book, trading card, print, and watch collectors. It stores acquisition cost, condition grade, provenance documents, and market comps, then calculates real-time value, unrealized gain and loss, concentration risk, and alerts when comparable sales occur.
Each item carries a base comp drawn from eBay sold listings, Heritage Auctions, PSA, Chrono24, and AbeBooks. PROVENANCE multiplies that comp by a condition or grade factor specific to the category, so a PSA 10 card is valued at roughly 3.4 times a PSA 8 and a Near Fine book in jacket at 1.45 times the same book without one.
Appreciation varies by category and condition. Across the collections tracked in PROVENANCE the average annual appreciation is 18.4%, though a first-edition Gatsby in near-fine condition typically appreciates 8 to 12% annually while high-grade vintage cards have run considerably hotter and more volatile.
